Neymar doubtful for Brazil´s opening World Cup qualifier with back injury

Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar is doubtful for Brazil s opening World Cup 2022 qualifier against Bolivia with a back injury.

Footage on social media this week showed Neymar putting his hand on his lower back and keeling on the floor in pain during a training session.

He was unable to train on Thursday and Tite is now preparing to be without his key man for Friday s clash in Sao Paulo, with Flamengo s Everton Ribeiro on standby.

Brazil s team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar confirmed a decision will be made on Neymar s availability on Friday and Tite added: We will have to wait and see.

If we are without Neymar then it will be Everton in his place.

Brazil are already without goalkeeper Alisson and striker Gabriel Jesus but Tite still has a deep squad…

Vidal edges closer to Inter Milan

According to a recent report from Calciomercato, Arturo Vidal’s agent is said to be over in Italy in order to discuss the official details behind his client’s potential switch from Barcelona to Inter Milan.

While Vidal has enjoyed some success at the Nou Camp it certainly hasn’t been on the level that many were anticipating when he first arrived. The former Bayern Munich star is ready to take on more responsibility and with Barca not really offering him that at this moment in time, he’s ready to go and see whether or not Inter will be able to give him what he wants.

Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte is keen to reunite with Vidal, and it certainly appears as if he will do everything in this power to try and make that transfer a reality. With Barcelona bein…

Pereira signs new Man Utd deal

Andreas Pereira has signed a new four-year contract with Manchester United, the Premier League club have confirmed.

Following successive loan spells at LaLiga clubs Granada and Valencia, Pereira made 22 appearances across all competitions for United last season.

Pereira made 16 of those appearances under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, having failed to establish himself during Jose Mourinho s tenure.

United triggered an option on Pereira s previous contract in March, extending the midfielder s deal to June 2020.

And the club have now tied the 23-year-old down to fresh terms, committing him to the Old Trafford outfit until June 2023, with an option for a further year.

Inzaghi implores Inter to continue building after ending Napoli´s unbeaten start

Simone Inzaghi urged Inter to build on their strong performance against Napoli after ending the Serie A leaders unbeaten start to the campaign.

Piotr Zielinski netted Napoli s first away goal in four league games against the Nerazzurri to open the scoring with their first strike at San Siro since April 2017.

However, Hakan Calhanoglu equalised from the spot before teeing up Ivan Perisic s header to put Inter 2-1 up at half-time, the Turkey international recording at least a goal and an assist in a Serie A match for the 10th time since his debut in 2017-18.

Lautaro Martinez seemed to have put the game out of Napoli s reach, though substitute Dries Mertens pulled one back to overtake Antonio Vojak as the club s leading scorer in the Italian top flight with his 103r…

Milan 1-3 Juventus: Chiesa at the double as champions go fourth

Federico Chiesa scored a brilliant brace as Juventus ended Milan s unbeaten start to the season and clinched a crucial 3-1 victory that moves the Serie A champions up to fourth in the table.

Andrea Pirlo s men produced a scintillating attacking display to become the first team to beat leaders Milan in the league in 28 matches and did so without leading scorer Alvaro Morata.

Ably assisted by Paulo Dybala on both occasions, Chiesa scored with confident finishes in either half and Milan s waves of attacking pressure found Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny in fine form before Davide Calabria found the net.

The Bianconeri, who added a third through substitute Weston McKennie, will hope this was a turning point in a tumultuous season, having played with the guile…

There was no chance of Tottenham signing Bale – Barnett

There was no chance of Gareth Bale joining Tottenham in the January transfer window, according to his agent Jonathan Barnett, who does not think his client will ever return to the north London club.

Bale has been a peripheral figure under Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane in recent weeks and was not included in the matchday squad for the weekend derby win over Atletico Madrid.

His omission came a day after the transfer window closed with the Welshman still at the Santiago Bernabeu, quashing talk of a move back to Spurs.

Asked if Jose Mourinho s men were ever an option, Barnett told talkSPORT: No.

Gareth still believes there is a future for him at Real Madrid.

He has two and a half years left on his contract, he has a wife and three children who…

England´s Walker ´best right-back in the world´ to counter Mbappe and France, says Neville

Kyle Walker can counter Kylian Mbappe when England face France in the World Cup quarter-finals as the Manchester City star is the best right-back in the world to face the forward, according to Gary Neville.

The Three Lions set up a last-eight match with Les Bleus after seeing off Senegal with a 3-0 victory inspired by Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden.

Gareth Southgate s side will face one of the toughest tests in world football against Didier Deschamps defending champions, particularly with Paris Saint-Germain forward Mbappe in fearsome form.

But Neville feels England are well-equipped to keep him quiet, pointing to Walker as the key man who can thwart the threat posed by the 23-year-old.

I think we have the best right-back in the world to be able to deal …

Griezmann: Playing Messi in World Cup final ´a totally different proposition´

Playing Lionel Messi in the World Cup final is a totally different proposition , according to France s Antoine Griezmann after his team secured their place in Sunday s showpiece match.

France ended Morocco s fairytale run with a 2-0 semi-final victory as goals from Theo Hernandez and Randal Kolo Muani sent Les Bleus through to a second consecutive World Cup final.

Didier Deschamps side could become the first team since Brazil in 1962 to retain international football s top prize, having lifted the trophy in Russia in 2018.

But standing in their way is Messi s Argentina, who cruised past Croatia on Tuesday to clinch their spot in a sixth World Cup final, with only Germany having been in the tournament s deciding match on more occasions.
